Turf Sprint or Allowance for Forbidden Kingdom?

DEL MAR, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2024) — Having earlier been pre-entered in the $1 million Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, to be run Saturday, Nov. 2, at Del Mar, Forbidden Kingdom was also entered in a Sunday allowance race at Santa Anita.

Forbidden Kingdom, set to begin stud duties at Legacy Ranch in 2025, is by American Pharoah and was purchased for $310,000 by Pete Parrella’s Legacy Ranch in Clements as a stallion prospect.

A three-time stakes winner on dirt and turf, Forbidden Kingdom has raced twice in the last year, winning the Grade 2 Joe Hernandez Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on the flat turf course at Santa Anita last December, but finishing last of seven in the Kona Gold Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt at Santa Anita in April in his last start.
