DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 26, 2024) – Stakes winners Johnny Podres and Sassy Nature and fellow California-bred Boss Sully are entered in Sunday’s $100,000 Stormy Liberal Stakes at Del Mar.
Boss Sully is by Street Boss, out of the Candy Ride mare Eternally, was bred by PT Syndicate #1, is owned by Brown, Klein or Lebherz and is trained by Brian Koriner. He has three wins in 11 starts, earnings of $182,522 and is coming off a fourth in a Nov. 16 optional claimer.
Johnny Podres is by Grazen, out of the Harlan’s Holiday mare Malibu Holiday, was bred by Nick Alexander, is owned by David Bernsen or Rockingham Ranch and is trained by Librado Barocio. He has nine wins in 42 starts, earnings of $540,150 and is coming off a sixth in the Oct. 13 California Flag. He was sixth in this race last year.
Sassy Nature is a filly by Straight Fire, out of the After Market mare Renee’s Queen, was bred by Straight Fire LLC, is owned by C T R Stables and is trained by Luis Mendez. She has five wins in 17 starts, earnings of $341,790 and is coming off a fifth in the Nov. 1 Sen. Ken Maddy.
