CYPRESS, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2024) — Tequilaandtherapy, who posted an 11-1 upset in the Golden State Juvenile Fillies last month at Del Mar, is among 13 nominations to the $100,000 Soviet Problem Stakes for Golden State Series-eligibles.
The one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies bred or sired in California will be run Sunday, Dec. 8, the third day of the Winter Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos. The six-day season will continue through Sunday, Dec. 15.
Bred by Reddam Racing, owned by Here We Go Brothers and trained by Doug O’Neill, Tequilaandtherapy rallied to defeat Grateful My Love by a nose for her second win in six starts. The daughter of Mrazek and the In Excess mare Chexcess has earned $164,067. She is already proven at the Soviet Problem distance, graduating at eight furlongs on the Del Mar turf Aug. 30.
Tequilaandtherapy is one of four O’Neill nominated to the race. The others are Sunday winner Pavel Is Appealing and maidens How About Pavel and Less Is More.
Other nominees to the Soviet Problem include Chilly Philly, Cioppina Pasadina, Freya, Grateful My Love, Hey Jessie, CTBA Stakes winner In the Air Tonight, Musical Number, Pavel’s Etoile and Z’s Wardrobe.
Entries for the Soviet Problem will be taken Thursday, Dec. 5.
