CYPRESS, Calif. (Apr. 23, 2025) — Three stakes, including the $100,000 Bertrando for 3-year-olds & up bred or sired in California, highlight the Los Angeles County Fair meet at Los Alamitos.
The nine-day season will begin Friday, June 20 and continue through Sunday, July 6. Racing will be conducted Friday-Sunday (June 20-22, June 27-29 and July 4-6). Post time will be 1 p.m.
The one-mile Bertrando will be run Saturday, June 21.
The richest event on the calendar is the Grade II, $200,000 Great Lady M. Stakes for fillies & mares at 6 ½ furlongs. Won by Sharp Azteca in track record time in 2024, the Great Lady M. will be offered Saturday, July 5.
The $100,000 Los Alamitos Derby, which was won a year ago by the Bob Baffert-trained Wynstock, will be contested Saturday, June 28. Baffert has won the Derby eight consecutive years and nine times since the race – which was formerly called the Swaps Stakes at Hollywood Park – has been run at Los Alamitos since 2014.
Before Wynstock, the other Los Alamitos Derby winners for the Hall of Fame trainer were Reincarnate (2023), High Connection (2022), Classier (2021), Uncle Chuck (2020), Game Winner (2019), Once On Whiskey (2018), West Coast (2017) and Gimme Da Lute (2015).
