Streaking Om N Joy Coasts in Fleet Treat

By DRF.com

DEL MAR, Calif. (July 25, 2025) – Om N Joy extended her winning streak to four races, and won her third consecutive stakes, with an easy rout in Friday’s $152,000 Fleet Treat Stakes for Golden state Series-eligible 3-year-old fillies at Del Mar.

Om N Joy is by Om, out of the Hard Spun mare Margie’s Minute, was bred by Jerry and Connie Baker, is owned by Baker, Golovco or Scanlan, et al, and trained by Aggie Ordonez. After losing her first seven starts, Om N Joy has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $315,640 and was coming off a win in the May 24 Melair.

“These are the best people in the world,” Ordonez said of the connections in a post-race interview with Mike Joyce of FanDuel TV. “The Bakers deserve everything, the greatest people you’d ever want to work with. They really deserve a filly like this.”

Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, who has been aboard for the three stakes wins, Om N Joy closed from sixth on the backstretch with Desormeaux guiding the filly on the inside around the turn in the seven-furlong race.

“She just continues to improve,” said Desormeaux. “She was an amazing appearance last time. I didn’t know she was that good, but she is. She is just that good. I’m the lucky pilot.”

Desormeaux moved Om N Joy outside of pacesetter Hurricane Layla entering the stretch, took the lead before the eighth pole and wrapped up in the final strides.

“When Kent shows up I just relax and trust him completely,” said Ordonez. “The way she ran today, I’m so proud of her. She laid up close. We put a little zip in her and sharpened her up and she did exactly what we expected her to do. I don’t know. She’s getting good. How good is she? It’s exciting.”

The second choice in a field of 10, Om N Joy ($7.60) won by 4 1/4 lengths over 20-1 Hot Girl Walk and was timed in 1:23.23.

“We put a little zip in her and she did exactly what we hoped she’d do,” Ordonez said in the winner’s circle. “She’s getting good.”

She won a maiden race for California-bred 3-year-old fillies at 6 1/2 furlongs on March 14 at Santa Anita, the first race of an active winning streak that includes the $126,000 Evening Jewel Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs on April 5 at Santa Anita and the $125,500 Melair Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on May 24.

Similar to the Fleet Treat Stakes, the Evening Jewel and Melair stakes were restricted to 3-year-old statebred fillies.
