DUBAI, UAE (Feb. 11, 2022) – California-bred Appreciated, claimed for $40,000 four races back, circled the field from last place on the turn then outdueled Sanad Libya down the stretch to win Friday’s $100,000 listed Curlin Stakes, presented by Race of Ambition, at Meydan.
The 6-year-old gelded son of Acclamation, out of the Belong to Me mare Wise Investor, was bred by Paul Newhart & Craig Martin, is owned by R3 Racing and trained by Doug O’Neill.
He has six wins in 31 starts, earnings of $354,296 and was coming off a third in a Dec. 27 optional claimer.
Appreciated ran the 2000 meters in 2:08.12 and won by a neck in a field of 13.
