CYPRESS, Calif. (July 5, 2017) – Six multiple stakes winners, including previous winners of the race Soi Phet and Magic Mark, are among the entries in Saturday’s $100,000 Bertrando Stakes for Golden State Series eligibles at Los Alamitos.
Gold Rush Dancer is by Private Gold, out of the In Excess mare Dances On Water, was bred by owner John Parker and is trained by Vann Belvoir. He has five wins in 16 starts, earnings of $388,613 and is coming off a fifth in the June 11 Thor’s Echo.
Smokey Image is by Southern Image, out of the Free House mare Special Smoke, was bred by C Punch Ranch, is owned by Irvin Racing Stable and is trained by Carla Gaines. He has six wins in 13 starts, earnings of $482,601 and is coming off a win in the May 20 Crystal Water.
Soi Phet is by Tizbud, out of the Siberian Summer mare Summer Jersey, was bred by ARCHA Racing, is owned by Benowitz Family Trust, Powell or Viskovich and is trained by Leonard Powell. He has 12 wins in 51 starts, earnings of $802,056 and is coming off a win in a May 21 optional claimer. He was second in this race last year, eighth in 2015 and won it in 2014.
Avanti Bello is by Include, out of the Mizzen Mast mare Masterful Lass, was bred by Lou Neve, is owned by Suarez or Keh or Richardson, et al and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He has six wins in 25 starts, earnings of $435,154 and is coming off a fifth in a May 5 optional claimer. He was third in this race last year.
