ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2026) – Defending champion Big City Lights and multiple stakes winners Speedy Wilson and Man O Rose will tangle in Saturday’s $125,000 Don Valpredo California Cup Sprint for Golden State Series eligibles at Santa Anita.

Big City Lights is by Mr. Big, out of the Exchange Rate mare Champagne Exchange, was bred by Bar C Racing Stable, is owned by William Peeples and trained by Richard Mandella. He has seven wins in 15 starts, earnings of $598,920 and is coming off a ninth in the Nov. 30 Stormy Liberal. He won this race last year and was second in 2023.

Speedy Wilson is by Tough Sunday out of the Ministers Wild Cat mare Queenofhercastle, was bred by owner Nick Alexander and is trained by Phil D’Amato. He has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $330,488 and is coming off a third in the Dec. 28 Grade I Malibu.

Man O Rose is by Stanford, out of the Good Journey mare Katherine Rose, was bred by owner B & B Zietz Racing Stable and trained by Jeff Mullins. He has 10 wins in 17 starts, earnings of $497,965 and is coming off three consecutive stakes wins.

Book Smart is by Stanford, out of the With Distinction mare Magic Lily, was bred by Grasshopper Racing Stable, Inc., Jack Fabulich & Jill Fabulich, is owned by Bernal, Eduardo, Buckendorf, Larry S., Bullard, Charlotte A., Harringer, Tyler and Lambert, Jeffrey and trained by Robert Hess Jr. He has seven wins in 23 starts, earnings of $337,145 and is coming off a fourth in the Nov. 30 Stormy Liberal.

Stakes winner Drop Um is by Far From Over, out of the Include mare Behavioral, was bred by D. & Mrs. William Gray, is owned by Gray Farms and trained by Felix Rondan. He has three wins in 10 starts, earnings of $178,000 and is coming off a second in the Nov. 8 The Chosen Vron Stakes.
