DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 25, 2021) – Graded winner Brickyard Ride and fellow California-bred Surfing Star are entered in Saturday’s $200,000 Grade II Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar.
Brickyard Ride is by Clubhouse Ride, out of the Southern Image mare Brickyard Helen, was bred by owner Alfred Pais and is trained by Craig Lewis. He has eight wins in 17 starts, earnings of $470,477 and is coming off a fifth in the July 31 Bing Crosby.
Surfing Star is by Surf Cat, out of the Strong Hope mare Sister Esperanza, was bred by Old English Rancho & Bruce Headley, is owned by Barnhart, Foxx or Naify, et al and is trained by Karen Headley. He has three wins in 14 starts, earnings of $180,831 and is coming off a fourth in a July 25 optional claimer.
