Cal-bred Pair in Canadian Derby

EDMONTON, Alberta (Aug. 13, 2015) – Stakes winner Bodhisattva and fellow California-bred Cowboys Don’t Cry are entered in Saturday’s $200,000 Grade III Canadian Derby for 3-year-olds at Northlands Park.

Cowboys Don’t Cry is by Include, out of the Mt. Livermore mare Mt. Swoosh, was bred by Louis Neve, is owned by Tom Rycroft and Dale Stark and is trained by Rycroft. He has one win in 12 starts, earnings of $32,482 and is coming off a second in the July 26 Alberta Derby.

Bodhisattva is by Student Council, out of the Talk Is Money mare Dr. Cheryl P., was bred by Andy Stronach, is owned by Jose Corrales and Pan Am Racing Stable and is trained by Corrales. He has three wins in 13 starts, earnings of $168,095 and is coming off a seventh in the June 21 Pegasus Stakes after finishing eighth in the Preakness Stakes.
