DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2021) – California-breds My Mane Champ, Mogollon Rim, Shortman and Socal Red are entered in Monday’s $100,000 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes for 2-year-olds.
My Mane Champ is by Champ Pegasus, out of the Vale of York mare Little Rooster, was bred by Cicero Farms, is owned by Paradise Farms, Staudacher or Skychai Racing and is trained by Michael Maker. He is making his racing debut.
Mogollon Rim is by Finnegans Wake, out of the Bertrando mare Brilliant Melody, was bred by Craig Martin, is owned by Martin or Yamamoto and is trained by Tim Yakteen. He is a maiden making his second start with earnings of $8,400.
Shortman is by Prince of Love, out of the Smarty Jones mare Shorty Jones, was bred by Sergio Zepeda, is owned by Sergio Zepeda Jr. and is trained by Sally Rivera. He has one win in two starts with earnings of $19,902 and is coming off a fifth in an Aug. 8 optional claimer.
Socal Red is by Lookin At Lucky, out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Tiz Elemental, was bred by Williamson Racing, is owned by Thomsen Racing and trained by Steve Knapp. He has one win in three starts, earnings of $22,600 and is coming off an Aug. 19 maiden claiming win.
