Cal-bred Quartet in Del Mar Derby

DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2020) – California-bred colts American Farmer and Margot’s Boy, and fillies California Kook and Warren’s Showtime, are entered in Sunday’s $200,000 Grade II Del Mar Derby for 3-year-olds.

American Farmer is by Bluegrass Cat, out of the Quiet American mare Farmers Wife, was bred by BKB Stables, is owned by BKB Stables or Sherman and is trained by Steve Sherman. He has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $97,122 and is coming off a win in the Aug. 8 Robert Dupret Derby.

Margot’s Boy is by Clubhouse Ride, out of the Creachdoir mare Margot Machance, was bred by owner Alfred Pais and is trained by Craig Lewis. He has three wins in seven starts, earnings of $131,520 and is coming off a fifth in the July 31 Real Good Deal.

California Kook is by Boisterous, out of the Comic Strip mare Kukaluka, was bred by owners Wachtel Stable and Gary Barber and is trained by Peter Miller. She has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $167,762 and is coming off a second in the Aug. 22 Del Mar Oaks.

Warren’s Showtime is by Clubhouse Ride, out of the Affirmative mare Warren’s Veneda, was bred by Benjamin Warren, is owned by Benjamin and Sally Warren and is trained by Craig Lewis. She has five wins in 12 starts, earnings of $460,251 and is coming off a third in the Aug. 22 Del Mar Oaks.
