ALBANY, Calif. (Sept. 4, 2022) – California-bred stakes winners American Farmer, Our Silver Oak and Jimmy Blue Jeans and Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Governor’s Party are entered in Monday’s $50,000 Sam Spear Memorial Stakes at Golden Gate.
American Farmer is by Bluegrass Cat, out of the Quiet American mare Farmers Wife, was bred by BKB Stables and is owned by BKB Stables and trainer Steve Sherman. He has four wins in 28 starts, earnings of $230,902 and is coming off a second in a July 24 allowance.
Our Silver Oak is by Unusual Heat, out of the Alphabet Soup mare Strawberry Flash, was bred by M. Auerbach, is owned by Blaine D. Wright Racing Stable, LLC, Chappell Alpine Farms LLC, Becker, Dallas and Becker, Michelle and is trained by Wright. He has five wins in 19 starts, earnings of $337,378 and is making his first start since a win in a Mar. 13, 2021 allowance.
Jimmy Blue Jeans is by James Street, out of the Marino Marini mare Blue Blizzard, was bred by Perry Bruno & John Gezon, is owned by Bruno, Gezon and Robert Jones and is trained by Andy Mathis. He has five wins in 13 starts, earnings of $247,048 and is coming off an eighth in the Aug. 6 California Dreamin’.
Governor’s Party is by Govenor Charlie, out of the Zensational mare Spring Moon, was bred by Terry Lovingier and is owned by trainer Daniel Franko. The $1,500 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has three wins in 24 starts, earnings of $112,116 and is coming off a third in an Aug. 26 optional claimer.
