DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 20, 2014) – California-breds Poshky, Starspangled Heat and Bench Light seek their first stakes win in Saturday’s $200,000 Grade II Del Mar Handicap.
Poshky is by Vronsky, out of the Bold Badgett mare Pincky’s Posh, was bred by Old English Rancho & Berumen, is owned by Silver Ranch Stable and Wachtel Stable and is trained by Peter Miller. He has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $162,460 and is coming off consecutive optional claiming wins.
Starspangled Heat is by Unusual Heat, out of the Runaway Groom mare Bel Air Belle, was bred by Madeline Auerbach, David Abrams and Vincenzo Loverso, is owned by Barry Abrams, Auerbach and Loverso and is trained by Barry Abrams. He has five wins in 35 starts, earnings of $440,697 and is coming off a fifth in an Aug. 15 allowance.
Bench Light is by Benchmark, out of the Habitony mare Lightly Go Lightly, was bred by Ellen Jackson and Margaret Scherr, is owned by Cobb, Cunningham Stable, Medina, Herbertson, et al and is trained by Michael Pender. He has seven wins in 23 starts, earnings of $214,591 and is coming off a July 24 optional claiming win.
