ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2014) – California-breds Bench Light, Poshsky and Starspangled Heat last raced in the Del Mar Handicap and meet again in Sunday’s $200,000 Grade II John Henry Turf Championship Stakes at Santa Anita.
Bench Light is by Benchmark, out of the Habitony mare Lightly Go Lightly, was bred by Ellen Jackson and Margaret Scherr, is owned by Cobb, Cunningham Stable, Medina, Herbertson, Herbertson et al and trained by Shaun Morrow. He has seven wins in 24 starts, earnings of $254,591 and is coming off a second in the Aug. 23 Del Mar Handicap.
Poshsky is by Vronsky, out of the Bold Badgett mare Pinky’s Posh, was bred by Old English Rancho & Berumen, is owned by Silver Ranch Stable and Wachtel Stable and is trained by Peter Miller. He has four wins in 13 starts, earnings of $162,710 and is coming off a sixth in the Aug. 23 Del Mar Handicap.
Starspangled Heat is by Unusual Heat, out of the Runaway Groom mare Bel Air Belle, was bred by Madeline Auerbach, David Abrams and Vincenzo Loverso, is owned by Barry Abrams, Auerbach and Loverso and is trained by Barry Abrams. He has five wins in 36 starts, earnings of $452,697 and is coming off a fourth in the Aug. 23 Del Mar Handicap.
