ARCADIA, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2015) – California-breds Uzziel, Warren’s Veneda and Sweet Marini are entered in Saturday’s $200,000 Grade II Santa Maria Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Uzziel is by Harlington, out of the Lord At War mare Pretti Woman, was bred by owners James and Tammy McKenney and trained by J. Keith Desormeaux. She has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $159,138 and is coming off a fifth in the Dec. 26 La Brea.
Warren’s Veneda is by Affirmative, out of the Flying Continental mare More Cal Bread, was bred by owner Benjamin Warren and is trained by Craig Lewis. She has six wins in 20 starts, earnings of $467,612 and is coming off a win in the Paseana.
Sweet Marini is by Marino Marini, out of the In Excess mare Excessing, was bred by BMWZ Stables, is owned by Kaleem Shah and trained by Bob Baffert. She has five wins in 13 starts, earnings of $411,418 and is coming off a second in the Jan. 19 Santa Monica.
