Cal-bred Trio Tangles in Frankel Stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 28, 2022) – Stakes winners Closing Remarks and Warren’s Candy Girl and fellow California-bred New Heat are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Robert J. Frankel Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.

Closing Remarks is by Vronsky, out of the Unusual Heat mare Orange Cove, was bred by owner Harris Farms and is trained by Carla Gaines. She has three wins in 14 starts, earnings of $378,820 and is making her first start since a fourth in the Mar. 26 Santa Ana Stakes.

Warren’s Candy Girl is by Clubhouse Ride, out of the Affirmative mare Warren’s Jitterbug, was bred by owners Benjamin and Sally Warren and is trained by Craig Lewis. She has four wins in 18 starts, earnings of $345,160 and is coming off an eighth in the Nov. 12 Kathryn Crosby.

New Heat is by Unusual Heat, out of the Touch Gold mare Helluva Hooley, was bred by Liberty Road Stables, is owned by Newfield Farm and Jennifer Saavedra and is trained by Anthony Saavedra. She has three wins in 17 starts, earnings of $198,352 and is coming off an eighth in a Dec. 3 optional claimer.
