DEL MAR, Calif. (July 24, 2014) – California-breds represent nearly two-thirds of the horses entered on Sunday’s 10-race card at Del Mar.
The highlight for Cal-breds is the $150,000 California Dreamin’ Handicap for Golden State Series eligibles, which drew a dozen entries.
There are four other races exclusively for horses bred or sired in California. They are the first race, a $75,000 maiden special weight for 3-year-olds and up; the second race, a $75,000 maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies; the fourth race, a $77,000 optional claimer for fillies and mares; and the 10th race, a $38,000 maiden claimer for fillies and mares with a $50,000 tag.
In total, 70 of the 110 horses entered were bred or sired in California.
