Cal-breds Show Up for Everett Nevin Stakes

PLEASANTON, Calif. (July 5, 2021) – California-breds are in the spotlight in Saturday’s $75,000 Everett Nevin Stakes for 2-year-olds at Pleasanton.

Highland Ghost is by Shaman Ghost, out of the Include mare Wee Highland Lass, was bred by owner Highland Yard and is trained by O.J. Jauregui. He has one win in two starts, earnings of $28,080 and is coming off a June 19 maiden win.

Stanford Bay is by Stanford, out of the Ministers Wild Cat mare Curvy Cat, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Jonathan Wong. He is coming off a June 11 debut win with earnings of $23,400.

Mr. T’s Thirsty is by Stay Thirsty, out of the Rock Hard Ten mare Pebble Beach Baby, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Templeton Horses or Lovingier and is trained by Walther Solis. The $40,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has one win in two starts, earnings of $34,320 and is coming off a June 27 maiden win.

Hijo Galante is by Gallant Son, out of the Falstaff mare Zorra Roja, was bred by Daehling Ranch, is owned by Lucarelli Racing Stable and is trained by Ed. Moger Jr. He has one win in two starts, earnings of $11,200 and is coming off a June 26 maiden win.

Heaven Shines is by Stanford, out of the Speightstown mare Light Up the Sky, was bred by owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is trained by Jonathan Wong. He has one win in two starts, earnings of $25,400 and is coming off fifth in the June 20 Fasig-Tipton Futurity.

Thirsty Always is by Stay Thirsty, out of the Not For Love mare Angela’s Love, was bred by Terry Lovingier, is owned by Tom Beckerle, Saul Carrillo or Lovingier and is trained by Walther Solis. He is coming off a debut win May 16.

Drinking Again is a Kentucky-bred by California stallion Stay Thirsty, out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Storm Swept, was bred by H & E Ranch, is owned by Moger Inc., Bill or Sandy Dory or Gary or Janet Kropp and is trained by Ed. Moger Jr. The $2,000 purchase at the CTBA January Sale won his June 5 debut.

Love Candy is by Danzing Candy, out of the Tapizar mare Love Winning, was bred by owner Stuart Tsujimoto and is trained by Ed Moger Jr. He is coming off a May 28 debut win.

North Sea is by Northern Afleet, out of the Popular mare Fanny Chenal, was bred by owners Dr. & Mrs. William Gray and is trained by Felix Rondan. He is a maiden making his first start.
