ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2017) – Leading earner California Diamond and King Glorious Stakes winner Ann Arbor Eddie are among entries in Saturday’s $250,000 California Cup Derby for Golden State Series eligible 3-year-olds at Santa Anita.
Ann Arbor Eddie is by Square Eddie, out of the In Excess mare Repo, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He has two wins in three starts, earnings of $101,200 and is coming off a win in the Dec. 18 King Glorious.
California Diamond is by Harbor the Gold, out of the Slewdledo mare Carrie’s a Jewel, was bred by Stormy Hull, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. He has five wins and four seconds in nine starts, earnings of $417,780 and is coming off a second in the Dec. 18 King Glorious.
Coils Gold is by Coil, out of the Proud Citizen mare Casino Gold, was bred by owners Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman and is trained by Bob Baffert. He won his lone start Nov. 13 and has earnings of $31,200.
Hot Smoke is by Unusual Heat, out of the Tale of the Cat mare Barbara Orr, was bred by owner Mercedes Stable and is trained by Robertino Diodoro. He has one win in five starts, earnings of $80,540 and is coming off a fourth in the Dec. 18 King Glorious.
