CYPRESS, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2025) – Third in the Golden State Juvenile Oct. 31 at Del Mar, Can’t Help Myself will stretch to one mile in the $100,000 King Glorious Stakes for Golden State Series eligible 2-year-olds Sunday at Los Alamitos.
Named in honor of the 1988 Hollywood Futurity and 1989 Haskell winner, the King Glorious is restricted to 2-year-olds bred or sired in California and is the main event on the final day of the Winter Thoroughbred meet.
Post time is 12 Noon. The King Glorious will be the last of 10 races. Approximate post time is 4:30 p.m.
Owned and bred by Pete and Evelyn Parrella’s Legacy Ranch, Inc. and trained by John Sadler, Can’t Help Myself finished 1 ¼ lengths behind Ocean Bear, who was winning his third in a row, in the Golden State Juvenile.
A son of Violence and the Uncle Mo mare Snap Out of It, Can’t Help Myself has been worse than third only once in five starts and has earned $95,920. He broke his maiden at six furlongs Aug. 16.
Trainer Peter Miller, who has won the King Glorious two of the past three years – Giver Not a Taker (2022) and Last Call London (2023) – will be represented by Mo Holland Drive.
A son of Mo Forza and the Summer Front mare Awesome Drive owned by Altamira Racing Stable, California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing LLC, Tom Kagele and Nathan McCauley, Mo Holland Drive earned his lone win in seven starts on turf Sept. 26. He’s banked $62,680.
Owned by breeder Terry Lovingier, trainer Steve Knapp, John and Grey Moroney and Sandra Lee, Fionello will try more distance after finishing fifth in the Golden State Juvenile.
The son of Stay Thirsty and the Ghostzapper mare My Fiona – who won the 2014 Soviet Problem at Los Alamitos – is 1-for-5 with earnings of $55,500.
Pavlovian, who unseated jockey Juan Hernandez at the start of the Golden State Juvenile, has been 1-2 in four of six for owner-breeder J. Paul Reddam’s Reddam Racing and trainer Doug O’Neill.
The gray Pavel colt out of the Bellamy Road mare Mandy’s Grace collected his victory in his second start June 15 at Santa Anita. He’s banked $91,200.
Reddam and O’Neill will be seeking their fourth win in this event since it was moved from Hollywood Park to Los Alamitos in 2014. They’ve scored previously with Found Money (2015), Ann Arbor Eddie (2016) and Play Chicken (2020).
Reddam is also the owner-breeder of Smoovin Saturday, a first out winner at the King Glorious distance Nov. 16.
Trained by Jonathan Thomas, the I’ll Have Another colt out of the Square Eddie mare Smoove It was 9-1 when he defeated John Metcalfe and five others. He earned $36,000 for the win by a bit more than one length.
Trained by Craig Lewis, who won the 2019 King Glorious with Club Aspen, and owned by co-breeder Rainmaker Racing LLC, John Metcalfe remains a maiden after four starts, but has been second in two of his defeats.
The Clubhouse Ride colt out of the Uncle Mo mare Murray’s Girl has banked $25,000.
A maiden owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Librado Barocio, Tommy Norris will try for the sixth time to graduate. The Stanford gelding out of the Ministers Wild Cat mare Minister’sadventure has been 2-3 in four of his losses and earned $32,000.
Lovingier also bred – and owns in partnership with John Mihaljevich and John Moroney – Flashy Fritz, who graduated at eight furlongs vs. $32,000 state bred maidens Nov. 7.
The Stay Thirsty colt, who is now trained by Edwin Alvarez, out of the Tapit mare Meghan, has banked $22,500 in six appearances.
