The word also is a play on the horse’s name. “Tapatio is a brand of hot sauce,” explained the trainer. Friday’s race is a six-furlong conditioned allowance for 4-year-olds and up that figures to produce starters for the Grade 3 Whitmore here March 16. Two weeks after he finished fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, The Chosen Vron will wheel back to face California-breds in the $100,000 Cary Grant Stakes on Nov. 18. “He’s doing great, I’m going to come back in two weeks,” trainer Eric Kruljac said Sunday. The Chosen Vron is virtually certain to be favored in the seven-furlong Cary Grant as he tries to begin a new win streak. Prior to his Breeders’ Cup fifth, the 5-year-old gelding won eight straight stakes including the Grade 1 Bing Crosby at Del Mar.
