DEL MAR, Calif. (July 14, 2016) – Graded stakes winner Cheekaboo and Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Olotta Shaken are among four California-breds entered in Sunday’s $75,000 Sandy Blue Handicap for 3-year-old fillies at Del Mar.
Olotta Shaken is by Capsized, out of the Malek mare Special Venture, was bred by Rancho de Los Aviadores, is owned by KM Racing Enterprise or Papaprodromou and is trained by George Papaprodromou. The $35,000 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has one win in 13 starts, earnings of $37,592 and is coming off a third in a July 8 claimer.
Cheekaboo is by Unusual Heat, out of the Souvenir Copy mare Sandy Cheeks, was bred by Madeline Auerbach, Richard Rosenberg & Barry Abrams, is owned by Alesia, Burns or Cialia Racing and is trained by Peter Eurton. She has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $279,680 and is coming off a win in the June 9 Honeymoon Stakes.
How Unusual is by Unusual Heat, out of the Bartok mare Veela, was bred by Madeline Auerbach & Barry Abrams, is owned by Auerbach or Bardy Farm and is trained by Tim Yakteen. She has two wins in seven starts, earnings of $98,860 and is coming off a sixth in the June 9 Honeymoon.
Nine Point Nine is by Tribal Rule, out of the Cahill road mare Cielo Dulce, was bred by Stormy Hull & Ginger Samples, is owned by Holly and David Wilson and trained by Vladimir Cerin. She has four wins in 13 starts, earnings of $144,885 and is coming off a win in a June 19 optional claimer.
