CYPRESS, Calif. (Nov. 26, 2014) — The Legislative, Legal, and Regulations Committee of the California Horse Racing Board will conduct a public meeting on Wednesday, December 17, at Los Alamitos Race Course. The agenda, including the starting time for the committee meeting, will be posted on the CHRB website no later than December 8.
The principal purpose of this meeting will be to review CHRB Rule 1699 as it pertains to the criteria for disqualifications in races. The current rule states in part that a “horse which interferes with another and thereby causes any other horse to lose stride, ground or position, when such other horse is not at fault and when such interference occurs in a part of the race where the horse interfered with loses the opportunity to place where it might, in the opinion of the Stewards, be reasonably expected to finish, may be disqualified and placed behind the horse so interfered with.”
Stakeholders and the public are encouraged to submit written suggestions for improving the rule before December 10, so they can be included in the committee package and available for distribution prior to the meeting. Please submit any suggestions to MikeM@chrb.ca.gov or by mail to Jackie Wagner, assistant executive director of the CHRB, at 1010 Hurley Way, #300, Sacramento, CA 95825. The public may also make comments at the committee meeting.
