ALBANY, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2017) – California broodmare Coastal Skimming had plenty to root for on Friday, when three of her Cal-bred offspring raced in the state, two of them winning.
Seaside Song won the fourth race at Golden Gate, a maiden claimer. The 2-year-old filly by California stallion Thorn Song, an Idaho-bred, was bred and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and trained by Jack Steiner. She ran a mile in 1:41.90 and won by five lengths as the 2-1 favorite.
Swiss Skimmer won the third race at Los Alamitos, a claiming contest. The 5-year-old mare was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams, is owned by Firsthome Thoroughbreds and Mark and Madison Rose and was trained by Adam Kitchingman. She ran the mile in 1:37.71 and won by four lengths at odds of 5-2.
Bennett Mtn. Gal finished eighth in the sixth race at Golden Gate, a maiden special weight race. The 3-year-old filly is by McCann’s Mojave, was bred and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and is trained by Steve Specht.
Coastal Skimming, by Skimming out of the Meadowlake mare Costa Rica, was also bred and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams. She won seven of 21 starts and $122,778. Among her wins was the Dancin at the Wire Stakes at Turf Paradise.
