DEL MAR, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2014) — Starting next weekend, first post at Del Mar on Saturdays and Sundays will be shifted from noon to 12:30 p.m. The change will mean all racing programs at the seaside track for its November “Bing Crosby Season” – with one exception – will begin at 12:30.
The lone exception will be Thursday, November 27, Thanksgiving Day, when racing will begin at 11 a.m.
“We thought the noon post on the weekend might be a good way to go,” said DMTC president and CEO Joe Harper. “But after a sampling, our horsemen and our fans have indicated to us that they like the slightly later start for several reasons. In addition, it allows us to advertise one time for our start time and cuts down on confusion for all. In the end, we are adapting and adjusting, which is what you have to do with a new venture like this.”
The track will continue to schedule nine races on weekends and eight on weekdays. Racing will be conducted Thursday through Sunday for the remaining three weeks of November.
