Distaff Draws Eight Cal-breds

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2013) – A contentious field of eight is entered in Saturday’s $100,000 California Distaff Stakes at Santa Anita for fillies and mares eligible to the Golden State Series.

Bella Viaggia is by Good Journey, out of the American Chance mare Miss Del Mar, was bred by Leatherman Racing, is owned by SLO Racing Stable and trained by Mike Puype. She has four wins in seven starts, earnings of $249,360 and is coming off a second in the Aug. 18 Solana Beach.

Dancingtothestars is by Good Journey, out of the In Excess mare A Lil Excess, was bred by owner Ren-Mar Thoroughbreds and is trained by Doug O’Neill. She has five wins in 17 starts, earnings of $325,022 and is coming off a fifth in the Sept. 1 Adoration Stakes.

Mia Lady is by Salt Lake, out of the Avenue of Flags mare Dear Lady, was bred by Medallion Hill Farm, is owned by Charles Winner and trained by Simon Callaghan. She has two wins in five starts, earnings of $101,006 and is coming off a fourth in an Aug. 31 optional claimer.

Qiaona is by Wilko, out of the Skywalker mare Starlet Sky, was bred by B&B Zietz Stables, is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning and trained by Ed Moger Jr. She has three wins in 14 starts, earnings of $379,994 and is coming off a win in an Aug. 21 optional claimer.

Toomanytomatoes is by Downtown Seattle, out of the French Deputy mare Toomanytomorrows, was bred by Harris Farms & Harold Chuhlantseff, is owned by Jeff Ho and Doug O’Neill and is trained by O’Neill. She has five wins in 18 starts, earnings of $204,442 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 21 Las Madrinas.

Tasty Treat is by Roar, out of the American Chance mare Vividora, was bred by John Greely III, is owned by Cunningham Stable and trained by Michael Pender. She has seven wins in 17 starts, earnings of $333,874 and is coming off a win in the Aug. 9 Daisycutter.

Pahiatua is by Tribal Rule, out of the Mr. Greeley mare Aqua de Mayo, was bred by Pacific Ridge Stable, is owned by Reina Gonzalez, Jeff Kitchen and Dolores Silva and is trained by Gonzalez. She has three wins in seven starts, earnings of $84,863 and is coming off a Sept. 15 allowance win.
