PLEASANTON, Calif. (July 7, 2024) – California-bred Drop Um outlasted odds-on favorite R Heisman to win Sunday’s $75,000 Everett Nevin Stakes for 2-year-olds at the Alameda County Fair and remain unbeaten.
Drop Um is the first stakes winner by sire Far From Over, out of the Include mare Behavioral, was bred by Dr. & Mrs. William Gray, is owned by Gray Farms and trained by Felix Rondan.
He won his only other start May 26 with earnings of $62,550.
R Heisman, a Kentucky-foaled son of California stallion Far From Over, was second with Cal-bred Timty third in a field of eight.
Drop Um, who had to withstand an objection from R Heisman’s trainer, Peter Miller, ran the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04.66 and won by one length at odds of 5-1.
