DUBAI, UAE (March 28, 2015) — Dual Breeders’ Cup champion Secret Circle struck the front three-wide with a quarter mile to race, and gamely held off a late challenge to win the $2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen-G1 by a head.
With the victory, the 6-year-old son of California stallion Eddington collected $1.2 million, increasing his lifetime earnings to $3,670,790, and further embellishing a superb record of eight wins, six seconds and one third in 16 starts for owners Mike Pegram, Paul Weitman and Karl Watson.
His time of 1:10.64 for the 1,200-meter event established the track record for the new Meydan dirt track and gave trainer Bob Baffert and Victor Espinoza their first victories in the Grade I event.
