ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2013) – Secret Circle, a Kentucky-bred son of new California stallion Eddington, rallied in the stretch to win Saturday’s $1.5 million Grade I Xpressbet Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita.
Secret Circle is out of the Dixieland Band mare Ragtime Hope and has seven wins and two seconds in nine starts with earnings of $1,878,790. He also won the 2011 Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint.
This was Secret Circle’s second start after an 18-month layoff. He ran the six furlongs in 1:08.73 and won by a neck over fast-closing Laugh Track in the field of 12 as the 5-2 favorite. Secret Circle is owned by Pegram, Watson & Weitman, is trained by Bob Baffert and was ridden by Martin Garcia.
The 12-year-old Eddington, a son of Unbridled, stands at Ballena Vista Farm for a $3,500 fee.
