ARCADIA, Calif. (May 8, 2021) — CARF (California Authority of Racing Fairs) has informed the CHRB that it is seeking to run a seven-week 2021 fair race meet from June 18 through August 1 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. We understand this meet will comprise the race weeks awarded to both Pleasanton and Sacramento by the CHRB.
As part of its race meet application to the CHRB, CARF has instructed Golden Gate Fields that CARF will be providing stabling for this combined meet with 680 stalls at Pleasanton and 600 stalls at Sacramento.
Consistent with CARF’s plans, Golden Gate will use this period to address track accommodations and various backstretch maintenance. Upgrades to the sanitary conditions of the restrooms have already begun.
Golden Gate will remain open for stabling for five additional days after the last day of its current meet, through June 18. Golden Gate will reopen the backside on July 26, 10 days before the start of the Santa Rosa Meet, which will be run at Golden Gate Fields in the same manner as last year, subject to the expected CHRB approval.
In consultation with TOC, in addition to stabling at Pleasanton and Sacramento there will be approximately 400 stalls available for Thoroughbreds at Los Alamitos Race Course for the period that Golden Gate Fields will be dormant. Any horse that ships to Los Alamitos from Golden Gate and starts at least once at Del Mar or Los Alamitos (daytime meet) and returns to Golden Gate within 14 days after the Golden Gate backstretch reopens for training on July 26, is eligible to have $800.00 reimbursement of vanning costs by the Southern CA Stabling and Vanning Fund.
In order to efficiently process the vanning reimbursement payments, the racing office will be provided with numbered vouchers, which will include instructions for submission.
