From E.A. Ranches
RAMONA, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2015) — Game Plan, by five-time champion sire Danzig, was humanely put to sleep at E.A. Ranches after he was found recumbent in his pasture on the morning of January 7. He was 22 years old.
“He was such a magnificent, classy horse and always acted half his age,” said Marguerite Eliasson, General Manager of E.A. Ranches, where Game Plan resided during the past 10 years. “He was the Grand Master in the stallion barn, commanding respect from everybody. He will be sorely missed by all who cared for him.”
Game Plan has sired 24 stakes winners and 27 stakes horses to date, including 7 graded stakes performers led by Grade-1 winner Mistical Plan. Three more crops, including two-year-olds of 2015, will be coming to the track.
Owned by a syndicate, Game Plan began his stud career in Washington, then was moved to California where he established himself quickly among the top stallions in several categories. In 2005 Game Plan took residence at E.A. Ranches when its founder, the late Ernest Auerbach, invested in the horse and over time acquired a majority.
