ARCADIA, Calif. (Apr. 13, 2018) — At its April board meeting, the TOC board voted to appoint Gary Fenton chairman of its Racing Affairs Committee effective immediately. Racing Affairs is one of the most active working board committees with primary responsibility including approving stakes and overnight purse schedules and purse contracts and overseeing race date recommendations, horse inventory, race conditions, and incentive programs.
Fenton, who began his career as an entertainment attorney, is currently the managing partner of Little Red Feather Racing (LRF), one of California’s leading owners with over 75 horses and 450 active partners. LRF has syndicated over 150 horses and brought hundreds of new owners into the sport.
“We are very pleased that Gary has accepted the chairmanship of Racing Affairs,” said TOC Chairman Nick Alexander. “His involvement and experience in the racing business make him uniquely qualified to lead this important committee.”
Outgoing board member Kathy Walsh is stepping down as chair of the committee. After having served two terms beginning in 2012, she will not be seeking reelection to the board in 2018.
“We deeply appreciate the time and effort Kathy has given during her tenure,” said TOC President & CEO Greg Avioli. “She has been a vital member of our board, always looking out for all owners, and she will be greatly missed.”
Other board members on the Racing Affairs committee are Bob Baffert, Ron Ellis, Mike Harrington, Terry Lovingier, Ed Moger, and Bill Strauss.
