CLEMENTS, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2016) – Grade II stakes winner Gervinho has relocated for his second season to Legacy Ranch in Clements.
A stakes winner at 2 and 3, and a California Champion at 3, Gervinho won Santa Anita’s $200,000 grade II Sir Beaufort Stakes along with Del Mar’s $100,000 Oceanside Stakes. Gervinho earned over $420,000 and was on the board in eight of nine career starts, including the $250,000 grade I Hollywood Derby, the $250,000 grade II Del Mar Derby and Santa Anita’s $150,000 grade III Twilight Derby.
A 6-year-old son of the remarkable Unusual Heat out of Foreverinthegame, by Out of Place, although raced primarily on the turf, Gervinho possess solid credentials for racing on multiple surfaces.
“One of the best horses I have ever trained, Gervinho had an amazing turn of foot and an incredible mind. It’s very disappointing we never had the chance to try him on the dirt as he trained brilliantly on it,” said trainer Carla Gaines.
“Gervinho is absolutely gorgeous physically and has so much to offer California breeders.” said Gayle Van Leer who will manage the stallion in 2016.
