ALBANY, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2020) – California-bred half-brothers Rousing Slammer and Luck’s Royal Flush won the early Daily Double at Gold Gate on Saturday.
Both winners are out of the Grand Slam mare Royal Grand Slam and were bred by owners Mr. & Mrs. Larry Williams.
Rousing Slammer, by Rousing Sermon, won the first race, a $25,000 maiden claimer for 2-year-olds, running the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04.79 and winning by 2 ½ lengths at even money in a field of seven. He is trained by Steven Specht.
Luck’s Royal Flush, by Lucky Pulpit, won the second race, a $12,500 claimer, running the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:03.71 and winning by one-half length at odds of 7-1 in a field of seven. He is trained by Jeff Bonde.
