ARCADIA, Calif. (Mar. 20, 2014) – California champion Halo Dolly leads a compact but competitive field of five entered in Sunday’s $100,000 Dream of Summer Stakes for Golden State Series eligible fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Halo Dolly is by Popular, out of the Comic Strip mare Spanish Halo, was bred by Rod and Lorraine Rodriguez, is owned by Hoefflin, Hoefflin, Hollendorfer, O’Farrell, Robin, et al, and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. She has 17 wins in 36 starts, earnings of $922,316 and is coming off a third in the Jan. 12 Paseana Stakes. She was the 2012 champion Cal-bred older female.
Warren’s Rosebud is by Affirmed, out of the Cozzene mare Elusive Rose, was bred by owner Benjamin Warren and is trained by Jorge Gutierrez. She has two wins in 10 starts, earnings of $96,080 and is coming off a Feb. 20 allowance win.
Could Be Trouble is by Ministers Wild Cat, out of the Devon Lane mare To B. Devon, was bred by John Piner and Louis Rotunno, is owned by Altamira Racing Stable, Gary Barber, Adam Wachtel and Cecil Barber and is trained by Peter Miller. She has four wins in 10 starts, earnings of $135,450 and is coming off a fourth in the Mar. 15 Irish O’Brien.
