SAN MIGUEL, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2014) — He Be Fire N Ice, a stakes winner and twice grade II-placed, will enter stud at Rancho San Miguel near San Luis Obispo, Calif., in 2015 for an advertised fee of $2,500.
The striking gray 6-year-old son of perennial leading California sire Unusual Heat won last year’s California Dreamin’ Handicap at Del Mar and followed that with runner-up showings in the Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) and the City of Hope Mile (gr. IIT) at Santa Anita Park. On the strength of those turf efforts, He Be Fire N Ice earned a start in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT) at Santa Anita, finishing eighth.
Bred in California by St. George’s Farm out of the Deputy Commander mare Deputy Tombe, He Be Fire N Ice was campaigned by Cicero Farms. He won five of 16 career starts and earned $332,580.
Under a promotional stallion deal, He Be Fire N Ice breeders will not pay a stud fee until after their foal runs and wins.
