From Ridgeley Farm
HEMET, Calif. (Feb. 12, 2016) – He Be Fire N Ice, a stakes winner and multiple Grade II-placed son of dominant California sire Unusual Heat, sired his first foal on February 4 at Ridgeley Farm.
The big roan colt born out of multiple stakes winner and Grade III-placed Smoke Glacken mare Dimple Punch was bred by Cicero Farms. Dimple Pinch’s 2014 Uncle Mo colt sold for $170,000 at the Keeneland September Sale last year.
He Be Fire N Ice’s first filly foal arrived on Super Bowl Sunday, out of Quiet Optimism, a Deputy Minister mare with five prior winners, also owned by Cicero Farms.
He Be Fire N Ice burst upon the national scene in the summer of 2013 when the handsome gray won three straight races in electrifying come-from-behind style culminating in a victory in the California Dreamin’ Stakes at Del Mar. In his next two starts, He Be Fire N Ice made his usual thrilling stretch runs but lost by a head in both the Grade II Del Mar Mile and again in the Grade II City of Hope Stakes at Santa Anita. He earned a 104 Beyer and a 2 ¾ Ragozin in the City of Hope and that 1:31.86 mile was only .09 seconds off Champion Wise Dan’s course record.
