DEL MAR, Calif. (Aug. 17, 2014) – Heat Du Jour rallied resolutely through deep stretch to win Sunday’s $151,000 Solana Beach Handicap for Golden State Series eligible fillies and mares at Del Mar.
Heat Du Jour is by Unusual Heat, out of the Half a Year mare Style of the Year, was bred by Madeline Auerbach, is owned by Jerry Hollendorfer, Mark Schlaich and George Todaro and trained by Hollendorfer. She is a full sister to stakes winner Lennyfromalibu.
She has five wins in 23 starts, earnings of $252,998 and was coming off a sixth in a July 25 optional claimer.
Heat Du Jour ran the mile on turf in 1:34.73 and won by three lengths at odds of 9-1. Qianoa was second and favored Kathleen Rose third in a field of 10. Multiple graded stakes winner Doinghardtimeagain, also trained by Hollendorfer, pulled up on the second turn and was vanned off.
