Hot Girl Walk Sweats Out Inquiry for Win

DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2024) – Hot Girl Walk took charge turning for home then had to survive an inquiry for a mild upset win in Monday’s $100,000 Generous Portion Stakes for Golden State Series-eligible 2-year-old fillies at Del Mar.

Hot Girl Walk is the first stakes winner by Bodexpress, out of the Awesome Again mare Awesome Mama, was bred by owner Richard Barton Enterprises and is trained by Carla Gaines. She has two wins in three starts, earnings of $117,000 and was coming off an Aug. 11 maiden win.

“She finally left the gate with some authority,” said Gaines. “Previously she broke slowly and had to circle the field. Today she was on it and speed holds here. Antonio (Fresu, jockey) rode a smart race when he let those two go. He sat right behind them and she still showed her kick.”

In the Air tonight was second and odds-on favorite Cayucos third in a field of six. Hot Girl Walk ran the six furlongs in 1:11.28 and won by two lengths at odds of 5-1.

The stewards ruled there would be no change in the order of finish after reviewing an incident on the turn where Hot Girl Walk came over on Cayucos, whose reaction resulted in Thirsty in Vegas’ jockey to take up.
