ARCADIA, Calif. (Apr. 9, 2014) – Tribal Spy and Ciao Bella Luna, 1-2 finishers in the Irish O’Brien, are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Las Cienegas Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.
Tribal Spy is by Tribal Rule, out of the Victory Gallop mare Victory Spy, was bred by Gary Barber, is owned by Triple B Farms and trained by Adam Kitchingman. She has five wins in 14 starts, earnings of $238,610 and is coming off a win in the Mar. 15 Irish O’Brien Stakes.
“I worked her a half-mile the other day in 49 (on turf) and she did it real nice,” jockey Joe Talamo said of Tribal Spy. “She went off in 26 (the first quarter mile) and came home in 23. It’s been a while since I rode her, but she’s real consistent. If she runs like she’s been running, she’ll be tough.”
Ciao Bella Luna, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Tribal Rule, out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Shadow of the Moon, was bred by Dennis and Carol Yokum, is owned by Rockingham Ranch and trained by Peter Miller. She has four wins in 13 starts, earnings of $282,110 and is coming off a second in the Irish O’Brien.
