ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2016) – Grade I winner Ashleyluvssugar and fellow California-breds El Huerfano and Ralis are entered in Sunday’s $200,000 Grade II John Henry Turf Championship at Santa Anita.
El Huerfano (also entered in Saturday’s Awesome Again) is by Tannersmyman, out of the Capsized mare Adriftinthebay, was bred by M.A. Douzos, is owned by Barber or Wachtel Stable and is trained by Peter Miller. He has four wins in 18 starts, earnings of $170,112 and is coming off a fourth in the Aug. 20 Del Mar Handicap.
Ralis is by Square Eddie, out of the Ten Most Wanted mare Silar Rules, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill. He has two wins in 14 starts, earnings of $424,083 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 4 Del Mar Derby.
Ashleyluvssugar is by Game Plan, out of the urgent Request mare Ashley’s Folly, was bred by owners Estate of Alesia, BranJam Stables & Ciaglia Racing and is trained by Peter Eurton. He has seven wins in 16 starts, earnings of $727,504 and is coming off a win in the Aug. 20 Grade I Del Mar Handicap.
