King Glorious Nominations Include Ocean Bear

CYPRESS, Calif. (Dec. 6, 2025) — Golden State Juvenile winner Ocean Bear tops a dozen 2-year-olds nominated to the  $100,000 King Glorious Stakes for Golden State Series eligibles at Los Alamitos.

A one-mile race restricted to horses bred or sired in California, the King Glorious will be run for the 12th time at Los Alamitos Sunday, Dec. 14, closing day of the Winter Thoroughbred meet.

Owned by breeder Richard Barton and trained by George Papaprodromou, Ocean Bear won for the third consecutive time in the Golden State Juvenile Oct. 31 at Del Mar, defeating Sammy Davis and eight others as the 2-1 favorite in the race at seven furlongs.

The son of Bolt d’Oro and the Square Eddie mare Ocean Dream was runner-up in his debut Aug. 16, then graduated Sep.7 before capturing an optional claimer at Santa Anita 27 days prior to his Juvenile win. He’s earned $200,350.

The other nominees, in alphabetical order: Can’t Help Myself, Cruise Home, Fionello, Flashy Fritz, John Metcalfe, Mo Holland Drive, Pavlovian, Smoovin Saturday, Start the Ride, Tamarando Beach and Tommy Norris.

Entries for the King Glorious will be taken Thursday, Dec. 11.
