Lakerball, An Eddie Surprise in Ken Maddy

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2020) – Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Lakerball and fellow California-bred stakes winner An Eddie Surprise return from layoffs in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Sen. Ken Maddy Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.

Lakerball is by Lakerville, out of the Capsized mare Category Ten, was bred by Rancho de Los Aviadores, is owned by Pappas Horse Racing Corp., Purple Rein Racing or Roberts and is trained by Doug O’Neill. The $1,000 purchase at the Northern California Yearling Sale has three wins in 13 starts, earnings of $181,731 and is making her first start since a third in a Mar. 8 optional claimer.

An Eddie Surprise is by Square Eddie, out of the High Demand mare Dani Reese, was bred by owner Reddam Racing and is trained by Doug O’Neill. She has five wins in 26 starts, earnings of $341,952 and is making her first start since winning the Feb. 17 Wishing Well.
