ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 27, 2017) – Grade I winner Masochistic and fellow California-breds Solid Wager, Tough Sunday and Smokey Image are entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Grade III Midnight Lute Stakes at Santa Anita.
Masochistic is by Sought After, out of the Unusual Heat mare Trotinette, was bred by Francoise Dupuis & Louis Julian, is owned by Los Pollos Hermanos Stable and Jay Em Ess Stable and is trained by Bob Baffert. He has eight wins in 16 starts, earnings of $857,550 and is making his first start since finishing 13th in the May 6 Churchill Downs Stakes.
Solid Wager is by Birdonthewire, out of the Valid Wager mare G Ma, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds, is owned by Barber, Barber or Stanford Stables and is trained by Peter Miller. He has eight wins in 39 starts, earnings of $566,671 and is coming off a second in the Nov. 19 Cary Grant.
Tough Sunday is by Grazen, out of the General Meeting mare Sunday Dress, was bred by owner Nick Alexander and is trained by Steve Miyadi. He has four wins in 15 starts, earnings of $235,858 and is coming off a Nov. 16 optional claiming win.
