TEMECULA, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2022) – Milky Way Farm in Temecula is pleased to announce that the stallion Midnight Storm will relocate from Taylor Made farm in Kentucky to Milky Way Farm.
Midnight Storm is a son of Pioneerof The Nile, sire of sires American Pharoah, Classic Empire and Cairo Prince, out of the Bertrando mare My Tina.
A brilliantly fast Grade I winner trained by Phil D’Amato, Midnight Storm won seven graded-stakes races on grass and dirt and earned $1,783,111. His striking speed earned him speed ratings topped by 125 while placing in the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Mile. His graded wins included the Grade I Shoemaker Mile (speed rating of 117), Grade II San Pasqual (SR 121), Grade II Native Diver, Grade II Del Mar Derby (SR 116), Grade II Eddie Read (SR 117), Grade II Seabiscuit (SR 112).
He also placed in the Grade I Santa Anita Handicap, Grade I Oaklawn Handicap, Grade I Awesome Again and Grade I Breeders’ Cup Mile. His wins included times for the mile of 1:33 1/5, 1:33 2/5 and 1:33 4/5.
Midnight Storm has had a wonderful beginning at stud. As a second-crop sire, he is nationally rated with progeny earnings of $2,217,667 and 30 winners in 2022. His progeny include Great Escape, who recently won the Grade III Canadian Derby while setting a stakes and track record, and Puerto Rican listed stakes winner Senor Testaferro.
Midnight Storm has been represented by sales yearlings commanding $550,000, $320,000 and $310,000.
Midnight Storm, with his excellent conformation, superb race record and beginning of successful stallion career will be a welcome addition to the California breeding program.
