ALBANY, Calif. (June 8, 2019) – Favored Mikes Tiznow went wire-to-wire to win Saturday’s $65,750 Albany Stakes in a California-bred sweep of the top three spots.
Mikes Tiznow is by Slew’s Tiznow, who sired the first and second finishers. Mikes Tiznow is out of the Maria’s Mon mare Babes Bridge It, was bred by Eagle Ridge Racing, is owned by Mike Schott and trained by Andy Mathis.
He has four wins in eight starts, earnings of $157,555 and was coming off a May 4 allowance win.
Summersimage was second and Brandothebartender was third in the field of seven.
Mikes Tiznow ran the five furlongs in :56.83 and won by 1 ½ lengths at odds of 3-2.
