DEL MAR, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2018) – Graded winner Miss Sunset successfully defended her title and led a California-bred sweep of the top three spots in Monday’s $99,990 C.E.R.F. Stakes for fillies and mares at Del Mar.
Miss Sunset is by Into Mischief, out of the Trippi mare Tuscan Sunset, was bred by Premier Thoroughbreds and Alan Klein, is owned by Klein and Philip Lebherz and is trained by Jeff Bonde.
She has 10 wins in 18 starts, earnings of $879,395 and was coming off a second in the May 27 Desert Stormer. She won this race last year.
Miss Sunset ran the six furlongs in 1:10.48 and won by 1 ½ lengths as the 3-5 favorite in a field of seven.
Fellow Cal-breds Show It N Moe It and Dis Smart Cat finished second and third.
