Myron Johnson Passes at 75

FRESNO, Calif. (May 21, 2019) – Myron Johnson, longtime director of California Thoroughbred Breeders Association who built and ran Rivendell Ranch with his wife, Jane, passed away on Sunday. He was 75.

Johnson joined CTBA in 1979 and served as Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, as well as on the Farm Operations and Legislative Committees.

In 1977 the Johnsons built Rivendell Ranch, a mare and foal care farm in Fresno.

Johnson was born in Palo Alto. He attended Fowler High School and Fresno State College, graduating with a degree in industrial technology.
 
He met the love of his life, Jane Ann Firebaugh, and they were married Nov. 13, 1967.
 
He worked in drafting and design for T.G. Schmeiser Company and Steel Structures Inc. He served in the Naval Reserves in Hawaii. Upon his discharge, he returned to Fresno and continued work with Steel Structures and Modern Welding Company.
 
Johnson also helped Jane in her other business, fancy clothing buttons, and they developed relationships across the United States and the Czech Republic.
 
Johnson is survived by Jane, niece Susannah Johnson and nephew Colin Johnson.
