SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 18, 2018) – Stakes-winning Northern California Yearling Sale graduate Deb’s Wildcard and fellow California-breds Sharona Sunset and Ismelucky are entered in Sunday’s $50,000 California Governor’s Cup Handicap for fillies and mares at Sacramento.
Sharona Sunset is by Sierra Sunset, out of the Lord Carson mare Sharoana, was bred by owners George and Mary Clare Schmitt and is trained by Marcia Stortz. She has one win in 13 starts, earnings of $64,620 and is coming off a second in a July 8 claimer.
Deb’s Wildcard is by Desert Code, out of the Demons Begone mare Deb’s Royal Flush, was bred by Victoria Polzin & Harris Farms, is owned by Mary Tucker and is trained by Samuel Calvino. She has eight wins in 32 starts, earnings of $247,688 and is coming off a second in a June 10 allowance. She was fourth in this race last year.
Stakes winner Ismelucky is by Lucky Pulpit, out of the Tribal Rule mare Ismene, was bred by Stephen Ferraro, is owned by Jeff Bonde or Jerome Russell and is trained by Bonde. She has two wins in nine starts, earnings of $140,832 and is coming off a fourth in a June 10 allowance.
